Mira Kingsley

Mira KingsleyMIRA KINGSLEY is dedicated to practices that mine the body’s mysterious presence, ancestral awareness and compassionate force. She holds two MFAs (Directing & Choreography) from The California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and is currently an Associate Professor of Dance at UCSB. She unites the arts and spiritual traditions with an intention to provide evolutionary models of embodied wisdom.

Mira has served as the Spiritual Advisor and Resident Teacher at the Mahasukha Center in Los Angeles, mahasukha.org. She leads workshops and retreats around the world on Buddhism, artistic sourcing, and the relationship between spiritual and artistic practice.

As a performer and choreographer, Mira has worked professionally for more than 25 years worldwide. Her creative presence has spanned a variety of venues from Broadway, The Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, and The Whitney Biennial to garages in east LA and the Morodokmai Homeschool in rural Thailand.

Mira’s research is currently centered on the discipline of Authentic Movement, developing artistic projects with director Travis Preston, and on working closely with students dedicated to spiritual growth.
